Radiesse® is a wrinkle filler used to plump the skin. Radiesse® is injected through a small needle and placed under the skin. Immediately, this filler works to add volume under the skin and over time, the benefits of Radiesse® continue by stimulating your body’s own natural collagen. The natural results have been shown to last a year or more in many patients, making the treatment results both immediate and long lasting.
How Radiesse® Works
Radiesse® is comprised of Calcium Hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres which are suspended in an aqueous gel. Once injected, it provides immediate volume and correction but continues to work by stimulating the body to produce its own natural collagen. Over time, the gel is absorbed and the body metabolizes the CaHA microspheres, leaving behind only your own natural collagen.
Benefits of Radiesse®
Immediately after treatment, you will see a difference in the volume of your face. Also the treatment will immediately begin to stimulate your body to naturally produce more collagen, which will eventually replace the Radiesse® as your body metabolizes it. It can also be used as a filler for hands as well.
Who Can Receive Radiesse®
Radiesse® is an ideal option for adding lift to smile lines, Marionette lines, pre-jowl folds, corners of the mouth, and also chin wrinkles. Radiesse should not be used in patients with severe allergies manifested by a history of anaphylaxis, a history or presence of multiple severe allergies or patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the components.
What to Expect
Radiesse® is injected under the skin in a quick procedure that can be done over the lunch hour. Radiesse®is also FDA-approved to mix with lidocaine (an anesthetic), which means the procedure will be much more comfortable. In fact, in a clinical study, 90% of patients treated reported significant pain reduction when injected with Radiesse® mixed with lidocaine.
Immediately upon injection, Radiesse® restores volume to smooth out the signs of aging. The natural-looking results may last up to a year or more in many patients.
Radiesse® Side Effects and Risks
One of the risks with using these products is unintentional injection into a blood vessel. The chances of this happening are very small, but if it does happen, the complications can be serious, and may be permanent. These complications, which have been reported for facial injections, can include vision abnormalities, blindness, stroke, temporary scabs, or permanent scarring of the skin. If you have a history of herpes, it is possible that you will have a breakout after this procedure.
You should minimize strenuous activity and avoid extensive sun or heat exposure for about 24 hours after treatment and until any swelling or redness has resolved.
Cost of Radiesse®
At PritiSkin™, each service is customized to the needs of the patient. You’ll begin by having a consultation with Dr. Mary Pritikin to determine a plan that will suit your cosmetic and financial needs. Because Radiesse® is classified as a cosmetic treatment, it is not covered by health insurance. Patients who cannot pay up front for treatment often utilize personal loans or lines of low-interest credit to cover the cost of treatment so they can pay back the investment over time. Please feel free to discuss with us your financing options.
